Ari Silberman is a saxophonist, multi instrumentalist, composer and educator living in Los Angeles, CA.
Ari began his musical journey at age 9 playing the clarinet and then went on to study bass clarinet and tenor saxophone at Oakwood Secondary School with Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist Brain Walsh. Ari’s love for music, particularly jazz music, grew throughout high school and college. Ari graduated magna cum laude from Sonoma State University in Fall 2018 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies. Sonoma State University’s Music Department recognized Ari’s talent and hard work by honoring him with the award of Distinguished Graduate in the Field of Jazz. Ari continued his education by earning his single subject music teaching credential at California State University Northridge.
Ari has performed and/or recorded with the Buddy Rich Big Band, Barbara Morrison, The Robin Simone Hollywood Orchestra, Mia Gladstone, Brian Falduto, Philip Labes, Liquid Blue Band, and more.
Ari’s debut album Beneath the Canopy, produced by Daniel Rotem, features his original compositions and fresh arrangements of beloved jazz standards. The ensemble is comprised of Josh Nelson (piano), Christian Euman (drums), Jake Leckie (bass), and features Erin Bentlage (vocals), and Brian Walsh (bass clarinet).
Ari is a credentialed music teacher and currently teaches at ArTES Magnet High School in San Fernando and teaches saxophone, clarinet, and flute in his private studio.
Ari has had the privilege to study with Daniel Rotem, Kasey Knudsen, Doug Liebinger, Ken Cook, Brian Walsh, and Ivan Johnson.
